Fast Chord Changes
Fast Chord Changes
One of the most difficult things to master when learning guitar is making fast chord changes. Here is a game you can play with yourself that will help you get past this hurdle.
Pick out your two most difficult chords. Lets say C and Am. Get a kitchen timer and set it for 60 seconds. Then start by strumming one time on the C. Make it as clean as you can. Then change to the Am and strum it once as clean as you can. Then switch back to the C and do it all over again. Each time you strum the second chord, in this case the Am, add one to your score. Go back and forth on your two chords for the full 60 seconds keeping track of how many times you play the second chord. That is your speed score. Do this exercise everytime you practice and you will see big improvements in your ability to change chords quickly.
Keep track of your score on different chords and you will know which ones you need more practice on. Always work your worst chords. Don't practice what you know, practice what you need to learn.
Happy practicing!
