Course Description and Requirements

Listed below are things you need to have for every class.

1.Your instrument. Guitar or Ukulele.
2.A good tuner. (Clip-on vibration type preferred for acoustic guitars)
...Electric guitars will need a plug-in type tuner.
3.2 extra sets of strings appropriate for your instrument.
4.2 or 3 extra High E and B strings.
5.Wire cutters.
6.A metronome or access to one on the internet.
7.A Capo.
8.Your Journal. (A plain notebook will be fine for this.)
9.Your Bible.
10.Your course materials. (Pay for them at registration or in your first class. $25/year)
11.Something to write with.
12.A string winder. (The kind with a built-in Pin Puller is best. They cost about a dollar.)

The above items are must-haves. With the exception of the instrument, they are all fairly inexpensive and can be picked up at any decent music store. Just take this list in with you and the store employees will know what you need.

Most importantly, Jammin' with Jesus is here to help you in your walk with the Lord. The main focus of our ministry is to help us learn how to be better disciples and to use our instruments for the benefit and growth of God's kingdom. You should do everything you can to be on time so that you do not miss the bible lesson. It is a critical part of our class. You need to be 15-20 minutes early so you will have time to tune your instrument and get ready to start. By being late, you are taking away time from everyone including yourself. Please respect this.

Jammin' with Jesus is a friendly setting and we do not push you to move at the same speed as everyone else. You are highly encouraged to practice daily but some of us will need more time to let the lesson sink into our fingers. That is not a problem. Take it at your own speed, but try and challenge yourself. That will help you to learn faster.

During the year, we will be participating with the Praise and Worship team for New Hope's Water Baptisms and possibly other churches as well. You are highly encouraged to attend these events because you will receive lessons and experience playing in front of an audience. What you learn at these events will affect your playing a great deal. The water baptisms will be announced in class at least two weeks before they happen, but you will also find them on your schedule pages. Please make plans for them ahead of time.

Lastly, you will need to register on the Jammin' with Jesus website. All ministry wide announcements are posted there and all newsletters are sent out from there. It is how we keep in touch with you. You will need an email address to register. For user name, use your first name and last initial. For example; John Doe = JohnD
